THE INSIDE Story

H5 COLO operates a purpose-built, carrier-neutral data center facility at 12712 Park Central Drive, Suite 200, Dallas, Texas 75251. Located at the geographic center of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex near the High Five interchange, our facility provides enterprises with secure, highly available colocation infrastructure backed by 100% uptime on critical systems since inception in 2009.

POWER INFRASTRUCTURE

The H5 COLO facility operates three independent 17 MW utility service entrances from ONCOR, providing a total of 17 megawatts of power capacity. Our power infrastructure is designed with:

  • Three separate-path utility feeds from the Texas Instruments DOD priority grid — designated as a Medical Grid which was not subject to rolling outages during the 2021 Texas ice storm
  • 250 watts per square foot power density across the data center floor
  • Redundant power distribution with A&B power paths to every cabinet
  • Underground utility delivery eliminating weather-related outages from wind, snow, and ice
  • N+1 UPS systems with battery backup and diesel generator failover
  • Upgradeable cabinet power from standard 5kW to 8.6kW, with 17kW available by request
  • Diverse dual-path circuits: 110V/20A, 208V single-phase, and 208V three-phase options

Our colocation solutions contain overbuilt electrical infrastructure allows customers to add equipment beyond stated capacity without circuit overages or downtime. Circuit upgrades from 110V to 208V can be completed while equipment remains online.

COOLING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL

H5 COLO uses a total containment approach to environmental control through sealed server cabinets with vertical exhaust ducts (chimneys). This chimney-based cooling design is the most efficient method for heat containment, delivering energy savings of 15% or more compared to traditional hot-aisle/cold-aisle designs. Each H5-supplied cabinet includes:

  • Closed-loop chimney attachment for maximum cooling efficiency
  • Heat sensors that trigger NOC alerts if internal temperature exceeds 98°F
  • Sealed construction isolating potential equipment fires to a single cabinet

The facility maintains optimal temperature and humidity levels 24/7/365 with redundant HVAC systems monitored continuously by our on-site Network Operations Center.

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

H5 COLO is a hardened, SSAE 18 Type 2 SOC2-compliant data center with multiple layers of physical and electronic security:

  • 24/7/365 on-site security personnel and Network Operations Center staff
  • Dual-layer access control: building/floor access controlled by one system, data center floor controlled by a separate biometric and proximity card system
  • Dual-layer video surveillance with analog and IP camera systems recording to separate storage devices
  • Restricted data center access - customer maintains individual cabinet keys and optional biometric locks for cages and suites
  • Dry-pipe double-interlock pre-action sprinkler system with heat and smoke detection
  • Cabinet-level heat sensors integrated with NOC monitoring
  • CO2 fire extinguishers stationed throughout the data center
  • Battery leak containment and detection system

CARRIER-NEUTRAL CONNECTIVITY

H5 COLO is a carrier-neutral facility with lit and dark fiber connectivity to multiple Dallas-area data centers and cloud providers. Our Meet Me Room provides direct access to six carriers:

“During the storms of March and May 2015, Jericho Systems Corporation had issues with building leaks. It was destroying company property and leaking dangerously close to the computer room in our office. Once the leak started endangering our operations, H5 COLO provided assistance. With very short notice, they moved our equipment overnight, during a weekend and got Jericho set up in a safe and secure location. H5 COLO provided extra staff to assist our move, and operations were back up and running seamlessly in a matter of hours.”

“We were hit by the Saturday, December 26th EF-4 tornado in Garland, Texas, and our server room was falling in on our equipment. We needed colocation space, and we needed it fast. H5 COLO was my first call on Sunday morning, December 27th. By 2 pm that afternoon, H5 COLO provided us assistance with the move into their Disaster Recovery space - which included power, cables, equipment and internet. We were up and running that evening!”
